Lifesource Yoga to Open a New Studio in the Akron-Fairlawn, Ohio Area
Fairlawn, Ohio (PRWEB) November 13, 2008 -- Fairlawn, Ohio will be getting a taste of power yoga with the opening of its first studio in November of 2008. Lifesource Yoga will be having its grand opening in Merchant Square next to Summit Mall on November, 14, 2008, serving the Bath, Copley, Richfield, Medina, Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, West Akron, and Fairlawn communities.
The Akron area is in desperate need for a yoga studio, according to its owner, Porsche Fischer. She decided to open the studio after coming to Akron visit her family and having a hard time finding a good yoga class to take. Fischer, an Akron native who graduated from Firestone High School, began her yoga practice in 1991 during her freshman year at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH. After marrying her husband Michael and moving to the metro-Detroit area to pursue her PhD in 2003, Fischer began to deepen her practice and recently decided to bring the gift of yoga back to the Akron area. Porsche is certified to teach Vinyasa Power Yoga from Corepower Yoga in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, she is a Storytime Yoga children's yoga instructor and is certified to teach YogaFit Levels 1, 2, 3, YogaFit Seniors, and Pre-Natal / Postpartum yoga.
Lifesource is an Ashtanga-based studio that offers classes seven days per week that vary from intro to yoga for beginners to power yoga for strength training and weight loss. They even offer classes for specialty populations such as seniors, kids, pregnant moms, families, and parents and their babies. Their specialty is Vinyasa power yoga, a type of yoga inspired by Baron Baptiste, Bryan Kest, and CorePower Yoga, but they also offer Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Classic Yoga, and Ashtanga Yoga.
One of the best features of this studio is their child care room, which offers on site supervised child care while their parents are taking a yoga class. "Having onsite child care really allows parents to make their children a part of their exercise routine instead of their workout being yet another part of the day where the parents and children are separated", said Fischer. "It is so nice to know that after being apart all day while the parents are working and the kids are at school, there is somewhere that they can go together and both have a great time!" The child care room at Lifesource features toys, games, books and a 40 inch plasma television to watch educational programming. Children are a big part of the Fischer's life, Porsche's husband Michael has a teenage daughter and they also have a one year old daughter and a newborn son
Lifesource also has a retail boutique that offers a variety of products for the "eco-conscious consumer", such as bamboo clothing, reusable shopping bags, and natural cleaning products. They also offer several lines of yoga and workout clothing and accessories, such as Be Present, YogaFit, Hugger Mugger, BareFoot Yoga, and others.
Melissa Cugini has created a line of eco-conscious jewelry inspired by nature called Misc. by Melissa. Utilizing only the finest components; semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver, each piece of jewelry is designed and handcrafted by Melissa herself. Melissa finds creativity and inspiration from the colors nature provides. Design ideas most often occur while hiking or just being outside enjoying nature. She most enjoys creating jewelry during the winter months, as the vibrant colors of the stones remind her of all that remains unseen during that season. Covering a wide price range, with most pieces between $35 and $75, Misc. by Melissa offers beautiful, unique pieces that will set your outfit apart from the crowd and draw complements from others. According to Melissa, "Jewelry creation, just like yoga, keeps me focused on the present and settles my mind. When I am done working I am relaxed and at peace; the same feelings I have after finishing my yoga practice."
In addition to clothing, accessories, and jewelry, Lifesource also offers nutritional supplements, including a five day high fiber cleanse that can lead to a 4-5 pound weight loss in five days. The cleanse includes three shakes, two bars, and vitamin supplements and is very affordable. They also offer a weight loss workshop that is four weeks long called Reset Yoga which combines a weekly meeting and yoga class with the cleanse and nutritional supplements to boost the metabolism and curb carb cravings. Gina Stankard, the creator of Reset Yoga, is an Amrit-trained yoga instructor that also teaches a warm yoga class at Lifesource.
